reStart Program
Skills, Training, Abilities, Relationships, and Testimony
The reSTART Program is designed to assist our guests in their path out of homelessness by focusing on Skills, Training, Abilities, Relationships, and Testimony. The effectiveness of the program is greatly dependent on the dedication of each individual.
Our Advocates meet with guests to create a plan to define their goals, schedule service hours, and outline Mission expectations. Whether they are work-ready and simply need time to save money and pay off debt, or are struggling with addiction or mental health issues, the reStart program is tailored to be able to meet everyone’s specific needs.
Skills
Education Center Classes focus on teaching essential life skills, including budgeting, home safety, tenant-landlord relations, stress management, health and hygiene, and transformative Biblical principles.
Training
Training and service assignments are designed to instill accountability, promote self-achievement, develop employable skills, and cultivate a sense of community at City Mission of Findlay.
The following tasks are examples of service assignments:
Abilities
Each participant in the reSTART program has the opportunity to demonstrate their personal abilities by leading service assignments, facilitating class discussions, and engaging in external agency courses. Recognizing and harnessing these personal strengths is crucial for achieving long-term success.
Relationships
Participants are encouraged to cultivate positive connections with others and reconcile fractured familial bonds. Many of our guests have severely damaged trust within their families due to substance abuse, theft, or untreated mental illness.
Establishing a supportive community, including involvement in a home church, is the initial first step toward achieving enduring success in the reSTART program.
Testimony
We hold the conviction that a connection with Jesus Christ has the power to transform lives, mend brokenness, and inspire hope for a brighter future. We urge our guests to seek personal relationships with God, discovering fulfillment and peace in His promises.
Through the Knights of the 21st Century program, we also offer an intensive Biblical course to initiate the journey of discovering one’s identity in Christ.
