Low Barrier Shelter
Emergency Shelter For Anyone In Need
At City Mission of Findlay, we believe that every individual deserves dignity, respect, and a safe place to rest their head. Our Low Barrier Shelter is more than just a roof overhead; it’s a haven of support, understanding, and opportunity.
We work hard to break down barriers to access, offering a welcoming environment where individuals experiencing homelessness can find refuge without judgment or discrimination. Here, we prioritize inclusivity, providing essential services and resources to those in need, regardless of their circumstances.
Access Our Low Barrier Shelter
Our new Low Barrier Shelter was created in response to a need we consistently saw in the Hancock County, OH area. Anyone who needs shelter is welcome to come from 8pm – 8am to access a safe place to sleep and a warm meal.
No one will be turned away based on factors such as substance use, mental health issues, or lack of identification. Our focus is on providing immediate assistance and a safe place to stay, without judgment or discrimination.
What Does “Low Barrier” Mean?
A low barrier homeless shelter is a type of shelter that tries to remove as many obstacles as possible for those experiencing homelessness to access its services. Unlike traditional shelters, which may impose requirements such as sobriety, identification, or participation in programs, low barrier shelters have fewer entry requirements.
Our Low Barrier Shelter is designed to be more inclusive and welcoming, recognizing that many people facing homelessness may have complex needs or barriers that prevent them from meeting traditional shelter criteria.
By prioritizing accessibility and meeting individuals’ basic needs, low barrier shelters play a crucial role in providing stability and support to those experiencing homelessness, helping them to move towards more permanent housing and a brighter future.
